History of Inter-State Aviation

It all started with a different name, DMA Enterprises which later became Inter-State Air in 1974. A PA-15 Super Cub was the only plane in the fleet. Doug Gadwa was in college at the University of idaho at the time and wanted to 'practice what was being preached to him.' He formed the corporation to finance a Cessna 150, 172 and a 180 out of Staley Field about 5 miles south of KPUW. The business kept growing eventually into (2) 152's, 172, 182, and a 206 that amount of airplanes was just to much for Staley and prompted a move to KPUW. Inter-State Air purchased Palouse Aviation (the FBO on the field at the time) in 1984 and changed it's name to Inter-State Aviation where Craig Fountain became partners with Doug. Here we sit today with 15 airplanes ranging from Cessna 152's to a Cessna 340. A new hanger was constructed in 2006 and completed in 2011 with just over 20,000 sqft of useful space. We continue to pride oursleves in the business especially from the heritage that Orville and Wilber Wright created in 1903.
